"Lounge 47 lives up to its name on both counts. Firstly, dim lighting, low booths, piped-in jazz, and a large patio out back cultivate a laid back attitude. Secondly, with 47th Avenue and 47th Road as its cross streets, the bar imprints its address on your memory. Considering its simple what-to-do/where-to-go moniker, the extensive, reasonably priced menu may come as a surprise. Tapas and bar food coexist happily so you're just as likely to find wasabi deviled eggs as you are a pulled pork sandwich or mac-and-cheese. History: Lounge 47 Benefit for Michael Yaniro
The Lounge 47 Benefit Auction for Mike Yaniro raised approximately $6,500. Over 34 Artists, Restaurants, and Retailers contributed to the auction.
Michael Yaniro was a victim of violent robbery in the Ridgewood area of Queens (NYC). He was savagely beaten beyond recognition, and now he's got a long road ahead of him with many surgeries... and to add insult to his injuries, he has no medical insurance! A brief description of his injuries: His right eye socket needs surgery as there is a bone protruding into it... so it needs to be repaired to restore his ability to move the eye. He has a fractured jaw and nose which will require surgery to repair, as well as multiple broken bones in his face. Pieces of titanium metal is to be inserted into his face to support the bones. His girlfriend Abby is trying to get him Emergency Medicaid, but that is really tough to get approved. Yaniro's website presents his artwork. His band, called Twin Stumps, is popular in Queens. The attackers wanted Yaniro's cellphone, and stole $10.
